VETIVER ESSENTIAL OIL

Quick Overview

vetiver100% pure essential oil of Vetiver is steam distiled from from the roots of the herb organically grown in Sri Lanka. This is a lovely soft and earthy Vetiver...an outstanding variety both aromatically and therapeutically.

Botanical Name: Vetiveria zizanoides

Called 'khus khus' and 'khas khas' in its native India, Vetiver is a deeply rooted, perennial tufted grass, with long, thin, rigid leaves extending up to 1.5 meters in height. It is botanically related to Lemongrass and Citronella The grass grows well in low-laying rich marshy soils and is commonly found framing riverbanks in India, Indonesia and Sri Lanka.

About the Oil

This viscous, brown essential oil is steam distilled from Vetiver grasses organically grown in Sri Lanka.

Aromatherapy Notes

This Vetiver has herbaceous middle notes woven with deep, smoky, leathery and rich earth undertones.

The aroma (as with Patchouli oil) becomes more complex and smooth with age.

Traditional Uses

Vetiver is known as the 'oil of tranquility' and is part of an ancient Ayurveda recipe used to alleviate thirst, heatstroke, fevers and headaches. It is also prepared as a tonic to strengthen the immune system, calm mental hyperactivity, and reducing inflammation and pain in joints.
